The happiest dj on earth

I found this fantastic video clip of a dj grooving to the music he is playing. I also get a little bit animated when I dj, maybe not as much as him but still. When you find music that moves you, you can sit still. This is true for all kinds of dance music.

This is a perfect example of what I call: The music made me do it.

Black Coffee: Careless Lovers

Do you ever wonder why swing music makes you want to dance? Could it be that infectious rhythm or could it be some else? Something completely different that makes you jitter and do strange moves. Like coffee? Black Coffee? Oh yes.

Check out this wonderful video with the band The Careless Lovers, a band made up of swing dancing musicians from the coffee loving city of Seattle.

The 2011 Swing/Jazz Dance Music Video Contest.

Another great version of Black Coffee is by the band Six Swingers.

Radio show: Peppermint Candy with Broken Hearts

A new radio show called Peppermint Candy has appeared on JazzFM. It's presented by the dj duo Broken Hearts.

They describe their show as :

Peppermint Candy is a contemporary take on the swing genre, guiding listeners through the story of swing from the classic (think Ella, Billie and Duke), to contemporary outfits such as Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and The Correspondents. Accompanying all this will be the latest news from gigs, festivals and events across the country, interspersed with unusual swing lingo and the day-to-day trends that swing has influenced from games, dance, food and fashion.
In the first show they talk about L.A. Noire, a new computer game about a police detective in Los Angeles in 1947 which has music from that era.

They discuss Fletcher Hendersons impact on swing music. You'll hear Minnie the Moocher by Cab Calloway, Bloodshot Eyes by Wynonie Harris. At the Swing Cats Ball by Louis Jordan.

Broken Hearts give a update of upcoming U.K. events.

Hopefully the show will appear on the web for listening.
